From the middle of the 1970s, Bernhard Luginbühl also worked with wooden moulds for pieces of cast iron that he transformed into amazing sculptures with almost baroque flourishes (Modell zum Schneckengeneral). Often imposing, occasionally put into motion by a subtle mechanism, Bernhard Luginbühl’s creations sometimes evoke a powerful vital energy, sometimes threatening, destructive forces. However, beneath the raw material’s grave and sombre appearance, the artist’s enthusiasm, curiosity and humour are never totally absent.
