Elisabeth Wild often organised her paper cuttings symmetrically on the sheet. The format of her compositions varies noticeably depending on the surface used for the background, but they are usually confined to an A4 sheet, the same size as the pages of the magazines from which she cut her shapes.

The interwoven elements extracted from glossy art or fashion magazines create worlds that oscillate between forms of reality and dreams. Recognisable and even familiar elements take on a surrealist air when combined with geometric shapes—the whole skilfully balanced into a colourful composition.

One assemblage evokes an insect, while another is reminiscent of architecture. Sometimes three-dimensional depth is created with a sense of illusionism, while other times the surface is shaped with solid colours. Faced with the extensiveness of her work, one can only marvel at the incredible creativity of an artist who created a universe consistent in its approach, yet varied in its expressions.
